In collaboration with Global Affairs Canada (GAC), IIX proudly introduced the Impact Investment Readiness Vietnam (IIRV) Program in 2023. This initiative is designed to bolster high-impact, women- and climate-focused businesses, equipping local Social Impact Businesses (SIBs) with the tools they need to attract impact-focused capital, facilitating sustainable growth and positive change in Vietnam.

IIRV Highlights: A Proven Track Record of Impact
In its first four years, IIRV has already exceeded its five-year targets: 285 social impact businesses trained in investment readiness, more than 140 percent of the target, and nearly CAD 17.7 million in private capital mobilized, close to three times the CAD 6 million goal. To date, 122 investors have been onboarded onto IIX’s Impact Partners platform, and more than 123,000 people have benefited indirectly. With the program still underway, these numbers continue to grow

Catalyzing Inclusive Capital in Vietnam | Policy Paper 3
Vietnam’s $24B SME finance gap is mapped — and Policy Paper 3 sets out how to close it. Cohort 1 (Hanoi, July 24–26, 2023)
The inaugural training course brought together over 50 participants from a competitive pool of 200+ applicants. Founders and executive leaders from diverse enterprises—ranging from traditional handicrafts to environmentally friendly technology—gained insights on impact investment readiness.
Cohort 2 (Ho Chi Minh City, December 6–8, 2023
Expanding the program’s reach, the second cohort partnered with iViet to deliver training to 117 participants from 77 SIBs. This session featured a broader sectoral representation, including sustainable agriculture, handicrafts, technology, services, and education.
Cohort 3 (Hue, June 26–28, 2024)
For the first time, the program extended beyond major cities, bringing training to central Vietnam in collaboration with VCCI and Hue Innovation Hub (HIH). Fifty participants from 35 SIBs across Hue, Quang Nam, Da Nang, and Quang Binh attended, with a strong focus on eco-tourism alongside agriculture, technology, and education.
Cohort 4 (Can Tho, December 17–19, 2024)
Marking its debut in the Mekong Delta, this session, co-hosted with VCCI’s regional branch, focused on investment readiness for 53 participants from 30 SIBs. The training highlighted industries crucial to the region, such as aquaculture processing and climate change mitigation, alongside sustainable agriculture and technology.
Cohort 5 (Ninh Binh, July 29–31, 2025)
Marking its first training in Ninh Binh, the 5th cohort brought together 50 participants from 31 Social Impact Businesses. This session stood out for its strong emphasis on enterprises spanning healthcare, organic agriculture, green tourism, eco-friendly products, and circular economy models. These businesses champion clean agriculture, ethnic minority livelihoods, and ecological tourism while preserving Vietnam’s natural and cultural heritage.
Cohort 6 (Dak Lak, August 20–22, 2025)
Bringing the program to Vietnam’s Central Highlands for the first time, the 6th cohort gathered 53 representatives from 34 Social Impact Businesses in Dak Lak. Rooted in the region’s rich cultural and agricultural landscape, this cohort focused on organic agriculture, eco-friendly products, and sustainable cooperatives. These enterprises drive sustainable farming, empower ethnic minority communities, preserve cultural traditions, and advance circular economy models to address environmental degradation and inequality.
Cohort 7 (Thai Nguyen, July 8–10, 2026)
Held in Vietnam’s renowned tea capital, the 7th cohort welcomed 58 representatives from 43 Social Impact Businesses across Northern Vietnam. This training highlighted enterprises blending agriculture with industry, technology, tourism, and education. A highlight was the site visit to Hao Dat Tea Cooperative, showcasing OCOP-standard sustainable tea production, circular practices, and value addition in agriculture. Participants gained valuable firsthand insights into traditional-yet-innovative processing methods that deliver premium quality, opening premium domestic and international markets.
