Impact Investment Exchange (IIX) is thrilled to announce the powerful endorsement of the Orange Pledge by Jakob Granit, director-general of the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).

This pivotal moment at the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok represents a monumental leap forward in their mission to achieve global gender equality and sustainable development.

The Orange Pledge is the heart of the Orange Movement, a visionary initiative dedicated to empowering 100 million women, girls and gender minorities worldwide by 2030.

By mobilizing $10 billion, the movement aims to drive transformative change at the intersection of gender equality, climate action, economic prosperity, and peace.

“We are deeply honoured to have Mr Granit and Sida endorse the Orange Pledge,” said Prof Durreen Shahnaz, CEO and founder of IIX.

“This partnership is a dynamic testament to our expanding global movement. Together with Sida, we are amplifying our efforts to drive systemic change and forge a brighter, more equitable future for women, girls and gender minorities worldwide.”

Jakob Granit emphasized Sida’s dedication: “Endorsing the Orange Pledge reinforces our commitment to invest in gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, and sustainable development. Sida proudly supports the Orange Movement in shaping a brighter, inclusive future.”

Sida remains integral to catalyzing Women Livelihood Bond (WLB) transactions, a ground-breaking global south-focused gender bond initiative that has successfully earned the Orange Bond label.

The WLB Series has mobilized $228 million, benefiting over 2.6 million women across Asia and Africa, demonstrating the transformative power of targeted financial instruments.

With the Orange Pledge, more than 76,000 global signatories demonstrate unwavering dedication to driving action-oriented initiatives. This collective commitment is reshaping capital markets, championing gender equality, ensuring equitable representation, and empowering the 99% to claim their rightful place at the financial table.

This endorsement by Sida marks a significant advancement for the Orange Movement, showcasing the collaborative efforts of global leaders and organizations dedicated to sustainable development and gender equality.
