Founded in 2017 by two female doctors, Sara Saeed Khurram and Iffat Zafar Aga, the company is enabling women doctors to initiate home-based practices by leveraging mobile health and tele-health technologies, bringing them back into the workforce in order to provide quality care in remote communities. Sehat Kahani’s inclusive business model is based on ICT-enabled health centres – called E-Hubs and E-Spokes – equipped to connect with home-based women doctors via telemedicine software. Patient histories are recorded on a cloud-based electronic system as doctors and patients communicate via live tele-consultations. E-prescriptions, lab collection points, weekly ultrasound visits and tertiary care referrals are also provided at the hubs.
The company has already established 27 e-health clinics through which over 60,000 consultations have been completed. In addition, the e-health app has gathered over 165,000 consultations and 43 corporate partnerships. In total, the company has managed to impact over one million livelihoods within the first four years of its operations.
IIX Impact Partners engaged Sehat Kahani through our Equity@Scale Program, and closed a US$756,000 Pre-Series an equity round in January 2021. The Impact Partners team continued our engagement and is currently assisting Sehat Kahani in their US$ 2 Million Series A Equity Round, which we have successfully closed US$200K from angel investor and from a large female angel group consortium. This was amidst a turbulent macro-economic situation in Pakistan showcasing IIX’s true testament on being resilient among challenges and supporting our partners who are making on group impact especially to marginalized communities representing women.
Alongside our capital raise services for the enterprise, we have further supported Sehat Kahani through financial model and valuation analyses, preparation of investment materials, and the conduction of an impact verification assessment. Going one step ahead Impact Partners has brought Sehat Kahani to the mainstream through introducing Sehat Kahani to more impact investors through investor webinars and enterprise spotlight sessions with partners such as USAID.
